Third Base – Web Series
Delicatessen films is producing a 60 second trailer as part of the The Movie Extra web fest. We have teamed up with Ric Forster, Writer/Director to produce an entry into this year’s competition. The prize is $100,000 to produce a 7 part web series at 3 minutes each. This should be a very exciting experience as we will be able to go all out with this sort of budget. Ric has already had some experience with writing and directing for the web. He has written, directed and produced web teen drama ‘LOL‘.
Ric has written and directed both documentary and drama productions for TV, cinema, DVD and the web. Television work includes ‘Neighbours’ (Eleven), ‘Hollyoaks’ (Seven) and video game series ‘Save Point’ (ONE HD). Short films ‘We Need To Talk’ and ‘Thinking Straight’ played at festivals worldwide, including the Cannes Short Film corner. Ric has also directed short form documentaries for the BBC and Channel 4 in the UK.
Set in 2062, 17-year-old RILEY COLE is forced to follow his father and relocate to Mars’ THIRD BASE. Living in a research station with thirty scientists, engineers and their families – this isn’t exactly the life Riley imagined. He’s determined to cause trouble and get them sent home.
Caught taking drugs with the base doctor’s daughter MISHA, Riley finds himself locked under curfew – along with all the other under 18s. But when an explosive decompression threatens their lives, Riley’s forced to take charge and makes the shocking discovery. All their parents are dead.
With three months before the next shuttle can arrive from Earth, Riley and the teens are forced to fend for themselves. Welcome to Mars.
After an intense 15 hour shooting day we had everything in the can and ready for editing and special effects. Check out the brand new THIRD BASE Series Facebook fanpage for the latest updates and behind the scenes clips.
